Following his time at Berea College, Doyle moved to Sarasota, Florida. There he met and married his lovely wife, Debra Lippincott. Soon after, their son Brent, and daughter, Allison were born. During his time in Florida, Doyle worked in home construction. It is there where his first big project was created: an 18 ft cedar strip canoe with one inch cedar strips. This first project, over 30 years ago, sparked a love affair with woodworking and creating live-edge wood art from pieces found in nature.
